The Ama Dablam Base Camp takes you on easy trails up close to the 6860 m high Mount Ama Dablam (Sanskrit: "Mother and her necklace"), which is also known as the most beautiful mountain of Himalayas due to its elegant shape and breathtaking glacier. From Pangboche (3,980m) you can reach the camp located at 4,500m. Here at the foot of the "Matterhorn of Nepal" you can smell expedition air. The first ascent succeeded the famous Ed Hillary Silver Hut Expedition in 1961, in which Bishop (USA), Gill (NZ), Romanes (NZ) and Ward (UK) reached the summit via the southwest ridge on 13 March. In May 2016 former biathlete Laura Dahlmeier defeated Ama Dablam.

In October is the high season here, the whole entourage you meet on Everest in May can be found here. There are also many well-known Sherpas from the region and mountaineers from all over the world.
