The Groß Glienicke village church is essentially a stone church from the 13th century, which was expanded to include extensive church furnishings in the 16th and 17th centuries. For example, there are four epitaphs in the church that commemorate the von Ribbeck patron family.

The stone church in Gross Glienicke has several special features. It is according to the latest research as the oldest church in Potsdam. The history goes back to about the year 1250, which could be determined on the basis of the checkerboard, which were installed at this time. Furthermore, the almost exact alignment of the altar to the east for the time was already remarkable. The deviation to the eastern direction is only 0.0315 degrees!

There are three checkerboard stones on the field stone church, one can be seen directly and clearly at the bridal gate, the second is also on the north side in the tenth row from the bottom at the downpipe (left of the bridal gate). The third stone can be found on the right above the entrance door on the church tower
