The initiator of the construction of the Bismarck Tower in Okonek was the "Association of Public Utilities in Okonek" led by post director Ernst Nitschke from Szczecinek.
The construction was financed with voluntary donations, lotteries and advertising. The peasants delivered the building material to the construction site free of charge.
The main architect and contractor of construction works was the builder Stelter from Okonek.
The tower opening ceremony on August 16, 1908 (according to other sources, August 23, 1908, or only in 1912, see below) was attended by numerous associations and residents of Okonek.
