To bypass the Ford works, this dirt road offers in conjunction with the Fühlinger See (komoot.de/highlight/385836), the Nordpark west of Neusser Landstrasse (komoot.de/highlight/381974 ) and the Niehler egg (komoot.de/highlight/384786) as an ideal route.

Very nice section with many meadows - so sometimes without Father Rhine and therefore a bit more varied. Of course, there is plenty of water to be seen, including various ferries, and at the end, you can visit the major construction site Rheinbrücke.

Beautiful beer garden on the Hitdorfer side.

    Ferry service then and now

The "Fritz Middelanis" has a long tradition. Centuries ago, people, animals and cargo were transported across the Rhine between Langel and Hitdorf by ferrymen. Hitdorf was once the trading port of the Bergisches Land, the oldest written mention of the port dates back to 1252. The ferry has been certified since 1633. Sources show that at that time the fishermen who were allowed to exercise the ferry right were forbidden to chase away other ferry passengers. Anyone who was caught had to pay the injured party a larger amount of beer. Into nothing. It was not until 1930 that the first motorized large ferry went into operation.

Have used the ferry to get to the destination, because it would have been about 10 km more on the Leverkusen bridge ...... had the grilled and Gekülte, what should expect me at the finish, practically thunderstruck and was always faster. ... ;-)
