*Update: The Hydro Bothy has now been demolished.*

The Hydro Bothy was once a cement store for the pipeline work for Orrin Reservoir, and now provides an often much-needed shelter from the Scottish elements, particularly in these remote parts. Don't expect anything glamorous here, but you'll probably be pleased to be dry!

  • RIP Hydro Bothy. The Hydro Bothy was probably the shittiest bothy in Scotland. Don't know if that is why it got demolished. It however still had a great function for those seeking shelter. Too bad it's now gone.It was just a concrete building, no stove, no bunks, nothing but a few plastic chairs and the one table on a concrete floor. Also a lot of rubble that people left behind in this bothy... could also be a reason for the owner to take it down?
Please all take notice of the Bothy code and take your waste with you.
