The Grüninger Warte, popularly known as "the Hoinkdebbe", was built in 1713 as a windmill based on the Dutch model and was only in operation for around 80 years until 1794. It is presumably built on the site of the observation tower first mentioned in 1445 and in connection with the Solms state border in 1476. Allegedly in order to raise the prosperity of the population, however, it served to tax the farmers who, subject to the "mill compulsion", had to have their grain ground in the Grüninger windmill.

Nice tower - a former mill. Great all-round view of the entire area!
