The 18-meter-high tower is considered a symbol of Lohne's elevation to town status.

It is located on a hill in Lohne's city forest. It was built in 1908 by the Beautification Association, the forerunner of today's local history association, as a visible sign of the new dignity.

The tower is a listed building, was extensively renovated in 1996 and was repainted in 2013. When the visibility is good, you can enjoy views as far as Quakenbrück and Cloppenburg. The tower is open at least once a month for this purpose.

Are you aiming high? Let your eyes wander, enjoy the whole beauty of Lohne from above? Then it's worth climbing the steps of the Lohner lookout tower in the idyllic city forest. Once at the top, the "hardships" of the ascent are quickly forgotten and a unique view of the area awaits you here.

If the visibility is good, you can even see the town of Quakenbrück in Artland, as far as Lake Dümmer or as far as Cloppenburg! The 18-metre (17.35 m to be exact) high tower, which stands on a small hill, is considered a symbol of Lohne's elevation to town status. It was erected in 1908 by the Beautification Association, the forerunner of today's local history association, as a visible sign of the new dignity. It was extensively renovated in 1996, and today this beautiful piece of Lohne's history is a listed building. In winter, the hill of the observation tower is a popular meeting place for children, as the small hill is transformed into a toboggan run!
