The ROLOI was built in 1851 on the remains of a tower (from the 7th century). The tower was completely destroyed in a gunpowder explosion in 1856 and was rebuilt in the same year under Fethi Pasha in memory of his father. The clock there is still the original from 1851 and is functional.
