Located in the commune of Crăcăoani, 6 km from the road that connects the cities of Piatra Neamt and Târgu Neamţ, in a meadow at the end of the picturesque valley of the Horaiţa stream, far from the noise of the world, the Horaiţa Monastery is the place where you can feel.
The name of the Horaita Monastery comes from the names of the large landowners in possession of the Crăcăoani commune and its surroundings. According to tradition, the Horaita Monastery was founded in the 15th century. On July 11, 1428, the ruler of Moldova Alexandru cel Bun (1400-1432) included the church in Horaiţa among the 52 churches (of myrrh and monastery), which he submits jurisdictionally to the Bistrița Monastery.
Currently, the monastery has 20 inhabitants, who are under the spiritual obedience of the Protosing Church Vasile Rubin. The parents of the monastery carry out various obedience to the monastery daily and regularly participate in the liturgical program in the monastery. In the last years, several restoration and renovation works were carried out in the monastery, which included the parish church "Saint Jerome Nicolae", some bodies of cells and the guest house.
