A few steps southwest of the Nördlinger Gate, this high watchtower is part of the city fortifications. The round tower made of unplastered ashlars with a conical roof was straightened with a projection towards the city, giving it a horseshoe-shaped appearance. It served not only as additional security for the Nördlinger Gate, but also as a powder chamber. It was built after 1372.
