The Baroque pilgrimage and parish church of St. Mary on the Hohenrechberg near Schwäbisch Gmünd was the place of pilgrimage of the Counts of Rechberg and is still parish church of Rechberg and a popular destination of pilgrimages. From the former ancestral castle of the Rechberger to the church, the path is flanked by a Way of the Cross from 1891.

Since the 15th century, a pilgrimage site has been proven on the mountain. Together with the ruin Hohenrechberg and the three imperial mountains, it is a landmark of the region.

Very beautiful pilgrimage church which is open for viewing. There is also a restaurant with nice seating outside to just have a drink or ice cream, there are free toilets (you do not have to be a guest in the restaurant), a small playground and of course beautiful views in all directions.

Coming from the castle ruins go around the church: there are beautiful benches, which invite you to linger with a beautiful view of the church and the Rems valley towards Gmünd.

Around the church you can discover a lot, for example the monument. Nice views in different directions.

The interior is worth seeing, if it is open.

The pilgrimage church of St. Mary can be reached on a constantly rising tar road.
The Polish-German restaurant next to it offers a shuttle service in 10 minutes.

The medieval Hohenrechberg Castle and the pilgrimage church are known as a duo in the entire region and can be seen from afar. A pilgrimage church without visiting the ruins, or vice versa, is almost impossible.
