In order to escape the hustle and bustle of the big city, the painter Max Liebermann had a summer residence built on the banks of the Großer Wannsee in 1909.
The garden, laid out according to his own ideas, inspired the important representative of German Impressionism to create around 200 paintings. Some of these paintings can be seen today in the Liebermann Villa Museum.

The villa stands on a 7,000 square meter property on the Wannsee. It was built in 1909/1910 and served as a summer residence for the Liebermanns. In addition to the restored summer house and garden of Max Liebermann, paintings with motifs of the house and garden can be seen in the museum.
