An impressive collection of exotic plants is maintained in the orangery at the northern end of the palace park. Various generations of landgraves,
later even the Prussian kings and German emperors, shaped the appearance of the
Bad Homburg palace park. Today, visitors can find a variety of garden art from different centuries on 13 hectares.
By building a representative palace in place of the medieval castle,
Landgrave Friedrich II (1633−1708) gave the impetus for this special garden complex from 1680 onwards.
The orangery at the northern end of the palace park was already built at this time, and today an impressive collection of exotic plants is still maintained there.
However, it was mainly Landgrave Friedrich V (1748–1820) and Landgravine
Caroline (1746-1821) who shaped the appearance of the park - especially in the area below the palace. As early as 1771, Caroline began to transform the former vineyard into a forest-like area, the so-called bosquet. Curved paths lead walkers down the slope. At the edge of this bosquet, in the quarry, also known as Goethe's Rest, there is a decorative area with a small house. bad-homburg.de/de/erleben/entdecken/schloss/orangerie-am-schloss

Above the rooftops of the spa town lies Bad Homburg Castle, whose silhouette is characterized by the medieval keep tower. The baroque castle with extensive parkland, founded on a medieval predecessor building, served not only as the residence of the landgraves, but also as the summer residence of the German imperial family.

There are various “exotic” plants to see here.
