The monastery in Schlehdorf was founded in 763 to 772 by the Huosi, a noble family resident in the region. Since 1904 it belongs to the Missionary Dominicans of King William's Town in South Africa. Around 30 sisters live on the monastery grounds and run a farm shop, which they open at the weekend.

Near the monastery is the Hotel Klosterbräu. At the inn you can fortify yourself during your walk with Bavarian dishes.
