Bergen aan Zee was founded in 1906 with the aim of creating a beach spot for the municipality of Bergen. Nowadays you will find five hotels and many guesthouses and private rentals near the beach. There are also residential areas for local residents and some beautiful villas in a prime location. Unlike many other beach destinations, there are no large holiday parks or campsites.

Bergen aan Zee was founded in 1906 with the intention of creating a seaside resort there for the Bergen community. Today there are five hotels as well as several pensions and private quarters in the immediate vicinity of the coast - as well as residential areas for the local population and a handful of exposed villas. In contrast to many other beach resorts are missing extensive bungalow parks or campsites. A citizens' initiative prevented the planned extensive development of the in-situ dune area Het Engelse Veld so far (Wikipedia).
