The parish of Grand-Leez is very old; At the beginning of the twelfth century, the perception of tithing and the composition of the remedies belonged to the layman. In 1153 they fell to the Priorat Wavre and 1175 to the abbey Floreffe. The Prémontrés de Floreffe served the parish Grand-Leez throughout the Ancien Régime. It is the abbey that built the present church from 1786 and the 18th century presbytery. The chapel of Petit-Leez and the hamlet of Petit-Manil were dependent on it.
