For pleasure hikers, this beautiful circular walk is a must in the Ammergau Alps.
From Oberammergau we walk through the powder moss of the Ammer along to Unterammergau. A tour of the pretty village with numerous listed buildings and the parish church of St. Nicholas should not be left out. The way back leads on middle height always along the forest edge, always with beautiful prospect on the powder moss and the mountain world. The mountain inn "Romanshöhe" invites you for a rest, before we end the sunny round in Oberammergau.
Length 12 km, total walking time 4 hours, ascent and descent 180 meters each
The Berggasthaus Romanshöhe is located directly on the Altherrensteig, which runs between Unterammergau and Oberammergau, at about 900 meters altitude. The restaurant can be reached from Oberammergau in about 30 minutes; It has a beautiful terrace with an unobstructed view of the Ammergau Prealps mountains to the south. The offered food is numerically manageable, but very tasty and affordable. A stop is recommended.
