The cemetery of the Franciscan monastery - in a great location about 160 meters above Orebić - is the final resting place of many captains and sailors of the place. Lined with old, high Mediterranean cypresses, you can admire several spectacular, palatial grave houses as well as many maritime tombs.

Yes, and if you are there (after first paying due respect to long dead mariners, of course), carry on for about one kilometer on the same dirt road, untill you get to Restaurant "Panorama". There you can enjoy breathtaking views of old Korčula city walls and Korčula Channel, as well as some great food & wine. I would strongly recommend their "Grdobina" fish carpaccio with local tuffles, for staters. After that, you are free to choose whatever you like, but if you'd fancy an octopus prepared in the old way ("ispod peke"), you need to let them know well in advance, as the preparation in a cast-iron pan, covered and burried in embers, takes at least a few hours. Darko, the friendly owner (and also the cook), will at some time undoubtedly sit down with you at your table and chat happily about anything and everything. At the end, you will certainly get a digestive on the house, and I'd recommend "travarica", a grappa-type strong, clear drink, in which local herbs are immersed.
