The Kahlenberg Chapel is a small pilgrimage chapel located above Ringsheim and Ettenheim in the Ortenau district. It was built in the 17th century (after the Thirty Years' War) and is dedicated to Our Lady of Sorrows. Formerly an important pilgrimage site, it is still used for religious services and processions. The chapel is idyllically situated in the vineyards on the Kahlenberg hill and offers a beautiful view across the Rhine plain.

Currently (November 2025), the path is overgrown on both sides, and erosion has created a deep gully that's quite muddy 🤪 Not so easy to ride because you keep slipping into this gully 😫
