The Lough Derg Way is a 64-kilometre (40-mi) walking route starting in Limerick City in Ireland’s south-west. The fully waymarked trail follows the course of the River Shannon and its canals north-east from Limerick to the port of Dromineer on Lough Derg. Along the way it passes through the hamlet of Clonlara, the village of O'Briensbridge and the ancient town of Killaloe, home of the 11th-century High King of Ireland, Brian Boru.
