This three-day bikepacking route loops through Söderåsen and Hallandsåsen, combining smooth gravel roads, ridge-top views, and classic Swedish nature. Starting and ending in Helsingborg, the route climbs over Skåne’s two prominent bedrock ridges, offering a mix of forest tracks, quiet countryside lanes and scenic lakeside stretches.
The western coastline of Skåne may not be off the beaten track, but once inland, the character of the ride changes. Söderåsen and Hallandsåsen add vertical variety to an otherwise flat region, with viewpoints into deep gorges, winding forest gravel, and wide panoramas. Along the way, you’ll pass nature reserves, medieval churches, and plenty of traditional windshelters that make overnight stops both easy and rewarding.
Resupply is straightforward with options in Höör, Perstorp, Örkelljunga, Båstad, and Klippan. Plan ahead though, as stretches between towns can feel remote, especially in the forest reserves. Accommodation ranges from hotels and guesthouses to simple wooden shelters. If you’re traveling with a tent, you’ll enjoy Sweden’s right to roam, which enables you to wild camp freely.
Best tackled between spring and early autumn, this loop is accessible by train or ferry, with Helsingborg serving as a convenient start and finish. Gravel and adventure bikes with 40–45 mm tires are ideal to handle the mix of fast gravel, forest roads, and short, steeper climbs. With three days of steady riding, this route is a great micro-adventure close to Malmö and Copenhagen.

The route heads inland before climbing steadily toward Söderåsen, where the scenery shifts in character. A highlight here is the dramatic view into the Söderåsen Gorge, a reminder…

Day two begins with some of the smoothest gravel of the entire route, winding along the edge of a lake with reflections of the forest mirrored in the water. Soon after, the ride brings you to a viewpoint over two lakes. This is an ideal spot for a pause before tackling the next climb.

The final day starts with flowing gravel along the shoreline of Västersjön, one of several lakes that frame today’s ride. A lakeside rest area makes for a good fika stop, with benches and views of the water before you continue south.
From here, the route gradually works its way back toward Helsingborg…
