Schaffhauserland is a cyclist's paradise. On two wheels, you can explore almost endless vineyards, wide fields and meadows, wild and romantic forests, Lake Constance and, of course, the Rhine. Around 35 cycle routes run through the lovely hilly landscape. You can explore them with the whole family quite comfortably on an e-bike, or up the challenge with a gravel bike or mountain bike. It’s totally up to you!
To give you a taste of the diverse and charming landscapes in Schaffhauserland we’ve put together five great cycling Tours. The routes, between 15 and almost 60 kilometres (9 and 37 mi) long, are so varied that there’s something for everyone - regardless of whether you like leisurely rides, want to push yourself on a mountain bike or enjoy an easy cycle along the water.
On the relaxed Klettgau wine route, for example, you cycle through Blauburgunderland, surrounded by vineyards and wine villages, with many tasting options along the way. The Rhine Falls route, on the other hand, enchants you with unique views of one of the largest waterfalls in Europe – a one-of-a-kind experience! On the Hegau route, you can enjoy sweeping views of a majestic, volcanic landscape and on the Schaffhauserland bike route, you can conquer the Randen by mountain bike. Last but not least, we recommend the Rhine route. Here, you can explore the picturesque landscape of Untersee and the High Rhine, with wonderful opportunities for short detours and relaxing breaks in between.
You can find places to stop for refreshments, adventure tips and accommodation along the routes on our website.
