El Camino de la Vera Cruz, also known as Camino de los Templarios, is a historic pilgrimage Route that connects Roncesvalles with Caravaca de la Cruz, a holy city with perpetual jubilee. Linked to the Order of the Temple, it crosses natural landscapes, fortresses, and towns with great heritage, offering you a unique spiritual and cultural experience that reveals the authenticity of inland Spain, from the Pyrenees to the southeastern peninsula.

I have structured the journey into 12 stages, designed to savor calmly both the natural wealth and the historical and cultural legacy. Thus, each day ends in a place intended for rest and recovery of energy, ensuring a balanced and unhurried experience.

To fully enjoy the crossing, the ideal is to use a comfortable bicycle equipped with a wide and versatile tire, capable of rolling safely and comfortably on all types of terrain. A gravel or a touring are perfect options, as they combine resistance, lightness, and stability on both dirt tracks and secondary roads.

You can travel the Route at any time of the year, and each season offers a different face of the landscape. In spring, the fields burst into vivid colors, while in autumn they are tinged with warm and golden tones. Summer requires waking up early to avoid the heat, but it compensates with the possibility of cooling off in rivers and lakes. Winter, on the other hand, offers a quieter and more secluded atmosphere, with cool but not impossible temperatures.

To start the adventure, the most practical thing is to take a bus to Roncesvalles and, at the end, connect from Caravaca de la Cruz to the city that offers the best link to your place of origin. I advise you to book a place to take your bicycle, as the spaces are usually limited.

With everything ready, all that remains is to adjust your bike and let yourself be carried away by this Templar crossing that combines history, nature, and spirituality in an unforgettable journey.
