When the apple blossom wraps the hilly landscape of Middle Franconia in a white-pink veil, spring is just around the corner. Nature comes to life, everywhere it sprouts and hums. Then it's beautiful here and nature literally calls you to get on your roadbike. It is no less beautiful when the summer provides pleasant warmth and the innumerable fruits of the orchards slowly begin to ripen. Pure feel-good factor and if it is really too warm, idyllic valleys and many small rivers and lakes promise the desired cooling. Simply perfect, for extended roadbike tours into the sunset. When autumn turns the landscape into a colourful symphony of colours, the time of harvest has come. For the fruit growers this means a lot of work, for you pure enjoyment. In restaurants and beer gardens, fresh cidre provides pure culinary pleasure. A festival for the senses and the perfect reason to do your roadbike laps through Middle Franconia also in autumn. If you're not afraid of the cold, you'll also be happy here in winter - then it's particularly idyllic here.
In short: Here in the northwest of Bavaria in the beautiful Middle Franconia is almost the whole year over roadbike season. The landscape is characterized by fruit growing, its scenic beauties and culinary delights. The tours of this collection for a (long) weekend are inspired by the Franconian Must Route, on whose way there are numerous highlights, which often only turn out to be such at second glance. But if you ride through the beautiful landscape with your eyes open, you will see the true beauty of the orchards, flower carpets, beehives and sheep pastures. Pleasure takes time — take it and enjoy a cool Kneipp bath, a short break at the idyllic lake or a fresh fruit juice in one of the numerous restaurants along the Must Route.
We have put together three tours for you, which you can combine according to your taste. If you take it easy, you can turn it into three relaxed daily stages for a long weekend. If you want to sit in the saddle for a longer period of time, simply combine two of the tours or challenge yourself by riding the whole round in one piece. You have all possibilities. There is a good railway connection in each of the stage destinations and here you will find (as in many other places on the way) all kinds of overnight accommodations. Whether in spring, summer, autumn or even winter — nothing stands in the way of full (racing) enjoyment in the Mostregion of Middle Franconia!

If the weather is good, you have a fantastic view that extends south to the Alps. Just as enjoyable is the subsequent descent back to Gerolfingen.Once at the bottom you roll past beautiful orchards directly to the Römerpark Ruffenhofen. Here you can enjoy the view of the remains of a Roman fort, or look at a model of the old buildings in detail up close. There is much to discover here, a short break is worth it.Past lush meadows, countless fruit trees and idyllic ponds, you are heading for today's milestone. Through green meadows and past many small ponds, it goes up and down until you reach the beautiful old town of Dinkelsbühl. In the "Green Classroom" behind the small village lake is a Kneipp facility, which can provide for a refreshment. In addition, various stations, such as an insect hotel, provide information about the special value of the Franconian orchards. It remains idyllic and quiet. The Krummweiher near Königshofen invites you for another break and also the ride in the valley of the Wieseth is pure enjoyment. It goes up and down steadily today, so at the end of the day you have collected at least 930 vertical meters. In Feuchtwangen you can strengthen yourself one last time before the last 30 kilometers before the finish line Ansbach waiting for you. Ansbach welcomes you not only with its impressive and magnificent old town, but also with culinary delights à la Middle Franconia: bratwurst, sauerkraut and black bread are very popular here. After a leisurely breakfast in the beautiful old town of Ansbach, the last leg of our tour along the Franconian Moststraße starts quite relaxed through the Ansbach city forest. After the short climb up to Elpersdorf you are nice and warm. If you cross the motorway, it gets a bit restless for a while, then you dive back into the idyll of central Franconia. At the latest in Burgoberbach you have the peace of nature back. Here you can briefly stop at the chapel and enjoy once again the scent of the adjacent orchards and flower meadows or treat your calves to another Kneipp bath. It rolls through the Altmühltal quite relaxed, before the last climb of the weekend awaits you. High to Oberhöhberg you get a sweat again, before you enjoy the final descent down to Altmühlsee. A lap of honor around the lake ensures the uniquely beautiful completion of the tour.Stage 3 of our weekend adventure along the Franconian Moststraße we have kept a little shorter. This leaves enough time at the end of the tour to travel home relaxed by train or car. On the way you even have twice the opportunity to shorten the tour on: From Ornbau you can go directly to Mörsach Gunzenhausen and save you the detour over Oberhöhberg (saving about 24 kilometers). At the very end, you can alternatively save around 13 kilometers by omitting the lake circuit.
