Take advantage of the golden autumn and the last warm days of the year to climb the breathtaking peaks of the Zugspitz region on quiet, less-frequented trails. Climbing the seven peaks is particularly picturesque when the deciduous trees on the mountain slopes glow in warm colours.
In the Zugspitz region, much more awaits than just the highest mountain in Germany. Between Murnau am Staffelsee in the north and Mittenwald on the border with Austria, you have countless hikes and summits to choose from in the Ammergau Alps, the Wetterstein Mountains and the Karwendel. Here, we present seven peaks that you can climb within a one-week hiking holiday. The ascent of the Krottenkopf offers you two different variants to choose from, so you can select the best option for you.
On lesser-known trails, you'll climb both the region’s lonely mountains and its classics. Since the hikes are quite long and involve a fair amount of climbing, mountain hiking experience and good fitness are an advantage. It's also essential that you're sure-footed and have a head for heights, as you'll be in alpine terrain. It's also worth keeping an eye on the weather forecast so that you're not surprised by any storms.
We recommend taking on all of the seven peaks in one go. If you have a whole week, you can climb a new peak every day. It's a bit of a challenge, but absolutely worth it. All Tours are accessible by public transport and, if you stay overnight in the region, the journey is even free with the guest card. You can easily find suitable accommodation here (in German): zugspitz-region.de/buchen#/unterkuenfte. Make the most of autumn and head to the seven peaks!
