Baden-Württemberg has an abundance of natural beauty, historical sights and unknown places to explore. Historic buildings, low mountain ranges with great views, blue lakes, idyllic river valleys, picturesque old towns and much more – there’s lots to discover on our weekend adventures.

These two-day trips are all easily accessible by train, and start and end at a railway station. The first stage always concludes in a town with accommodation and a rail connection back to the start point. This means you can shorten your adventure and ride the two stages as a day trip. Please check in advance in the DB app whether the rail connection you need for your Tour is currently operating without restrictions or whether rail replacement services are being offered due to construction work.

A short weekend trip by train and bike is an environmentally-friendly and convenient way to discover the country. There’s no annoying search for a parking space, no traffic jams and more flexibility. You can rent a bike on site, too. At each start point, we’ve selected a rental station, where you can either rent a bike via the DB Call a Bike service (callabike.de/en/home) or from a local rental company. You’ll find more detailed information in the stage descriptions. Through a partnership with the start-up ListNRide, Deutsche Bahn now also offers you the option of ordering your very own customised bike to collect at selected stations. You can find more information (in German) here: radverleih.bahnhof.de/radverleih.

If you take your own bike with you, it’s best to check the availability in advance and avoid rush hour when space is limited. You’ll find more information in the DB Ausflug app and here (in German): bahn.de/service/individuelle-reise/bahn_und_fahrrad/rad-nahverkehr.

If you’d prefer to bring your own bike, Deutsche Bahn's Bicycle Summer promotion might be just the thing for you. From June to the end of August, travellers in Germany can take their bikes for a reduced fee - €29.90 instead of €49.90 (per route and bike). For more information, see: bahn.de/angebot/zusatzticket/gepaeck.

Top tip: Did you know you can easily display stations and other stops in the komoot route planner? Simply click in the search field and then select stations and bus stops to display on the map. This way you can plan even more adventures by train and bike.
