If you’re looking for a first-class cycling route in the north and east of Germany, then this is the right Collection for you. On D-Route 10, you cycle along the Elbe Cycle Route from the Wadden Sea to the German-Czech border in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains.

Idyllic meadows, fairytale floodplain forests and bizarre rock formations will enchant just as much as the diverse flora and fauna. Along the Elbe Cycle Route, you can watch white-tailed eagles, cranes, storks and, with a bit of luck, even discover beavers that have settled in some of the protected areas.

This varied route between Cuxhaven and Bad Schandau also leads through picturesque old towns with fascinating histories. Take plenty of time to explore the cultural sites along the 844-kilometre (524 mi) route. All the stages end with accommodation options and places to eat and drink. Along the way, you'll find beautiful campsites, cafés and pretty towns where you can take a break from the saddle.

The route is suitable for both leisure cyclists and pros; there are no significant climbs and the overall elevation gain is relatively gentle. Along the way, you’re very well connected to the rail network, meaning you can access the trails by train or even shorten a stage by train if the weather doesn't play ball or your legs get tired.

Appetite whetted? The German Cycling Network has another 12 long-distance cycle routes, a great web that leads through the whole of Germany and can be combined in any way you like. If you're curious and want to know more, take a look at this Collection: komoot.com/collection/1928660.
