The hike starts at the Mendola mountain station near Caldaro.

Our goal was the Penegalspitze at 1,737 meters.

At the top we had a great view of the valley before the actual hike started. Follow the signposted hiking trail 500. This hiking trail leads almost once over the entire Mendola ridge and mostly

In addition to a small waterfall and two castles, this varied hike also offers sensational views of Bolzano. Between the houses of the Hocheppanerweg we went, past a "collector of a special kind", into the forest. The quite challenging ascent leads past the chalk tower. A detour to the nearby chalk tower

From the small South Tyrolean village of Verschnitz with just under 400 inhabitants, it was initially quite steep uphill. (the first 3 km with 400 HM). Passing the Gschoferstall (very good place to stop for refreshments), you hike through beautiful larch meadows, from here you have a great view. The

  8. For today's hike we took the 185 line from Bolzano up to the Dolomites for about 50 minutes. The starting point of our hike was the Niger Pass at 1668 m. The path meanders up to the Baumann Schwaige. Unfortunately, the original hiking trail was closed from there due to forest work and we had to accept

We didn't even know that Bryce Canyon existed in South Tyrol

The "earth pyramids", which can be seen after a half hour walk from Oberbozen, are something very special.

These steep, tower-shaped or conical structures are made of sandstone, loess, block loam or volcanic tuff.
