Goreuon Môn

The first climb in Simon Warren's book, Cycling Climbs of Wales. It climbs from the coast to the outskirts of Llanddona at 1.36km at 10%, but the sign warns you of gradients up to 35%.

Although there are a few settlements to the north of Cemaes, Llanbadrig for example, it is regarded as the most northerly village in Wales.

Parys Mountain stands 147m above sea level, and although the island's landscape is more hilly than expected, believe me, it is known as 'Mynydd' to Anglesey residents. It's an uncomfortable climb in both directions - from Rhosybol or Amlwch. In the second half of the eighteenth century, it was the largest copper industry in the world.

The natural beauty of this location on the west coast of Holy Island is testament to why it is such a magnet for visitors.
