Cultural and scenic diversity in a compact space – with an area of only 160 square kilometres (99 mi), Liechtenstein offers something for everyone. Nestled between Austria and Switzerland, this small principality is a true Eldorado for outdoor lovers. From flat bike paths in the green Rhine Valley to steep trails in the rocky high mountains, you'll find everything your cycling heart desires in Liechtenstein.
In this Collection, we’ve put together 10 very different Tours with varying difficulty levels and metres of climbing. With an e-bike, you can lessen the burn of the more demanding Tours and concentrate on enjoying the landscape. All of the Tours have one thing in common: they are full of exciting highlights, such as magnificent views, medieval castles and shaded places to rest.
The Lichtenstein Trail is an ideal way to get to know the country. It takes you from south to north in three stages. Take a journey through time on the Five Castles Tour, which leads to five impressive castles in Liechtenstein and Switzerland. You can also cycle through three countries in less than 60 kilometres (37 mi) on the Three-Country Tour. As Lichtenstein is so compact, you cycle into Switzerland and Austria too.
On the Rhine Valley Tour, you cycle along the famous river and climb a few metres of altitude with magnificent views. The route to the Pfälzerhütte inn includes lofty mountains as you explore the Käsknöpfle peak and its fantastic panorama. The Valorsch Tour takes you to a remote and picturesque region around the summit of the 2,104-metre (6,902 ft) Schönberg. Pedal hard on the Gafadura Tour, which takes you from Schaan up to the rustic Gafadura hut. The Eschnerberg Tour is more leisurely: along the 25-kilometre (15.5 mi) loop, you cycle through forests and small villages all the way to Austria.
You can easily ride a touring bike or get a little electric assistance for your legs. In Liechtenstein, there’s no shortage of delicious food – you pass inns, restaurants and mountain huts that serve specialities such as spaetzle noodles, ribel (a traditional dish made from cornmeal), and Käsknöpfle dumplings. We recommend taking your passport with you as you cross the border to neighbouring countries on some Tours.
In three stages, the Liechtenstein-Weg leads you from south to north through the small principality. If you want, you can drive the 85 kilometers over two days. You will discover the most beautiful places and the most interesting highlights - from viewpoints over river banks to castles.
