Everywhere you and your family go, you will be accompanied by the Karwendel’s unique panorama which towers majestically over the beautiful villages of Krün, Wallgau and Mittenwald. The contrast between the bright limestone rocks and green surrounding is very impressive. On these hikes, which have a difficulty rating of easy to moderately difficult, you experience the Karwendel’s alpine world to the fullest. You can easily manage all of the routes with your children. You can also reach the hikes with public transport. The Alpenwelt Karwendel guest house allows you to use all bus connections free of charge.
The hikes are never longer than 9 kilometres (5.6 miles and cover a maximum of 410 metres (1,345 feet) in altitude. If it does get too much, you can always turn back. Make sure you’re equipped with enough drinks and child-friendly snacks and the hike will be doubly as good. You’ll also be prepared for a minor emergency. On the educational trail along the turquoise-green Isar, you will learn a lot about the geological history of the region. This easy round is something for the whole family. On beautiful summer days, you and your children can finally get up close and personal with the Isar and its gravel bed. You walk barefoot over the round pebbles and stretch your feet into the pleasantly cool water of the beautiful mountain stream.It starts at the bus stop "Ortsmitte Krün". First you go in the direction of the tourist information, then continue down the Isar Canal downhill past the sawmill to the Isar bridge. Before this you turn right onto the “Kieselsteinlehrpfad”. Your adventure begins! Here you can find out a lot about the Karwendel alpine world on boards and marvel at the young Isar near its source: Since its renaturation in 1990, it has been making its way through the original river bed again.
The forest adventure trail on the Lautersee is an exciting themed trail in the Karwendel Alps. At twelve interactive stations, you and your family can find out more about the function and importance of the mountain forest. Your hike starts above the Lautersee, where two large, upturned tree trunks mark the starting point.Since the circular route is laid out quite flat, you can easily drive it with a stroller. And off we go with the first stations. Whether tree species quiz, forest loungers, the audio studio or the bird's pulpit - your children will be amazed by the flora and fauna in the Karwendel Alps and will learn a lot. The last stations take you back to the starting point on Lauterseestrasse. Incidentally, the Lautersee is also suitable for a refreshing swim on hot days. For a refreshment stop, it is worth stopping at the Lautersee Alm café with a wonderful view of the water.
