It was only 15km. GPS mess ...
Otherwise nice varied tour through different vegetation. Actually it should go to the Winkelalm. The path suggested by Komoot ended up nowhere in the middle of the blueberry scrub, so we hiked to the Matritsche and the kids went wild after a snack in the playground. From here I'm alone towards Rudnigalm, path 403. A really nice path with several stream crossings. Then I followed the signs to Nassfeld.

What can you say, this lake and this hiking trail are just terrific! The color of the water is just fantastic ... I took this route as a child and it is my favorite hiking trail! I've been looking forward to this tour the whole time!
It goes over roots, stones and wonderful forest floor and most of the time only slightly up and down. You only have to be careful on a section that is very steep down into the lake. There are many banks, but refreshments are rare. But you can swim and swim almost anywhere on the lake. The lake is relatively warm and has drinking water quality. We took the ship to the Dolomitenblick jetty and ran back. There were two wonderful swimming breaks. Unfortunately, one of the children cut a shard while doing this, which is why we switched back to the ship earlier than planned. Still a great and very relaxing day!

We have found it! Even before the 1st Italian town of Pontebba there is an "open air museum" hidden in the forest. Here you can visit old positions from the First World War and there are explanatory boards with reports from contemporary witnesses.
It is steep uphill and downhill, condition and proper footwear are important here too!

The gorge is really a highlight! Parts 1-3 were doable for our children. Ropes are stretched in the most dangerous places.
At the end of part 2 there are a lot of places where you can put your feet into the water, which the children really enjoyed and built dams.

There was a trip to Italy today. After a delicious pizza at the border, we drove down the pass road, where supposedly many remains of the First World War can still be seen. The children have to learn how we are doing today ...
In addition to an old, almost dilapidated barracks and many deep trenches, we found only an old tin thing. There was delicious dessert in the form of blueberries and wild strawberries and porcini mushrooms for dinner 😉
Maybe we were looking in the wrong place ...
By the way, there were paths, we didn't walk through the middle of the biotope.

Komoot and I are no friends today 🤦🏻‍♀️ Two times the tour was broken off ... walked a total of approx. 16 km.
The children had a lot of fun, but the Kronalm-Auernigalm section was not as nice to walk as the rest. Because of the storm, we assumed 45 minutes. Since we were hungry afterwards, we walked to the Tressdorfer Alm, where the kitchen closed at 4 p.m. 🥺 Return to the village with the Piccolo Express.

Monte Corona is a wonderful destination. Great view on all sides and the welcoming committee was very friendly, especially the black Noriker, who was alone in the herd of cows.
The way to the summit and back down was easy and very entertaining for our children.

Today a not so strenuous, but still very nice way to the Gartnerkofel mountain station, where the family was waiting. A small part of the Carnic high trail, where I also saw the first marmots on this vacation. The Garnitzeralm is beautiful, the innkeeper is very nice.

Since the weather forecast reported thunderstorms today, we drove down into the valley in the morning.
The slow trail around the lake is undemanding. A nice flat running track or pram circuit. The reed belt around the lake is nice, you can watch different animals and run from time to time in the shade. However, there is only a small place where the children can go to the water. Every point where the lake is accessible is either a lido or a private beach at various hotels.
Our children haven't complained so much about a hike in a long time 😣

As yesterday, the family followed the gondola to the mountain station. At the beginning of the route on the Italian border there were some memorials to those who died in the world wars.
I ran the Geotrail instead of the forest path. The path is very nice, but not for families with young children. You run very lonely and can really enjoy the beautiful nature! An unbelievable number of flowers bloom, you can find wild strawberries and soon blackberries. The view of the mountains is incredible!
