Today the weather was not so great and a destination close to home was searched for. Off to the sled dog race 🐶 to Spremberg in the upper mountain road. Again this year without snow ❄️⛄. The race distance for the dogs is adjusted to the outside temperature. Below 10 degrees the route is 5 km long, above 10 degrees it is shortened to approx. 2 km. A veterinarian is on site if a fur nose is bad.

After the last rather cloudy November days, the sun pushed its way through the clouds today. Perfect for an autumn stroll through Muskauer Park. Many of the benches have already been cleared away, the frost-sensitive bitter oranges on the castle ramp are in the orangery, only a beautiful rose next to the castle bravely holds out and is experiencing its second bloom.

The summit plateau of the 434 m high Pfaffenstein has all the characteristics of Saxon Switzerland. Caves, ravines, a rock spire, a mountain inn and lots of great views.Start and finish is the parking lot in Pfaffendorf. From here it goes over the Pfaffensteinweg to the Nadelöhr, a strenuous ascent with many steps and a narrow place in the rock up to the Pfaffenstein. It's easier via the comfortable ascent, it takes a little longer 😊.Now in November the trees are losing their leaves and many a path appears that I hadn't noticed on previous hikes. So z. E.g. the way to the ruin. The ruins are the remains of the club house built in 1924 and the "Falken" rifle club, which was banned in 1945.We continue to the Barbarine, a rock needle. The Barbarine is a petrified virgin. Instead of going to church, she met the forester, mother found out and cursed the girl. This is how it can be done.

My circular hike begins in the Zahnsgrund (Bad Schandau) and leads me to the Schrammsteine, a strongly rugged group of rocks. From up here you can enjoy a fabulous view of the mountains.

The hike begins in Leupoldishain, a place on the left side of the Elbe in Saxon Switzerland. A rock labyrinth, forest experience and summit happiness await. The hike leads through the village, past a playground, further through the forest, along a rock edge towards the labyrinth. The maze is fun for kids.

The hike to the Katzstein begins at the Waldbad in Cunnersdorf. This is on the left side of the Elbe in Saxon Switzerland. A lot of forest and incredible tranquility awaited me here.
The Katzstein is a 444 m high mountain range at the northern tip of which is the Signal vantage point. This was previously used as a forest fire watch point. Today there is a bench on the mountain. We continue in the direction of Katzfels. Here a steep ladder leads up to the plateau, halfway up there is a cute cat figure. The whole thing is rounded off by a weather vane with a cat motif. The fog was still very persistent and the view from up here was manageable👻. So the Forststeigweg down towards the Mäuseborn.
The born mouse is a boofe. There is a story about how it came about: the Mäuseborn is the bathtub of the Mouse King. He liked to splash around in the water. One day there was only a puddle in the bathtub because it had a hole. The mice tried to plug the hole. First with the toe, then with a stick, nothing helped. His mouse subjects had to hew a new tub in the sandstone with small hammers. This "new tub" is a boofe, the story of the daycare children invented and painted on paper. The whole thing was designed as a weatherproof book and is ready to be read on the Mäuseborn 👍. Great thing.

The KRABAT mill in Schwarzkollm is worth a visit at any time of the year. Today was the kite festival. Hui it was a swarm 🙂🪁 in the meadow. Entry is on a voluntary basis, the entire complex is in a very good, well-kept condition 👍.

The sun attracts many visitors to the Fürst Pückler Park in Branitz. This is right next to the Cottbus zoo. Hills, bodies of water and gently curved paths define the park. The pyramid in the middle of the lake is a highlight. From here the path continues along the water towards the castle (currently there is scaffolding in front of it). The Hermannsberg has been redesigned and from above you have a great view of the pyramids. The sheep are also new to the park. These are protected by two white guard dogs and a fence.

First it turns out differently and secondly than you think. The weather app promised a mix of sun and clouds with possible rain showers. On site in Saxon Switzerland, the rain didn't want to stop. At the bastion parking lot, rain capes were sold for 1.50 € each and were very popular. On the bastion the rain poured down the steps in streams. My lap led behind the parking lot through the forest towards the pavilion view, a great view without the hustle and bustle of the bastion. From here a few meters back and towards Schwedenlöcher. The Schwedenlöcher is a romantic and adventurous rock canyon with 700 steps and 160 meters of altitude. A lot is required here. I am always amazed at the many shades of green in the various types of moss. Once at the bottom, the path to the Amselsee continues. Boats are hired out here for recreational enjoyment, and paddling is allowed for a change. There is also a hiking trail around the lake, and there are plenty of benches for breaks. At Amselgrund I originally wanted to continue down the Raaber-Kessel in the direction of the little goose, the way was blocked just like the one to the big goose. Not bad either, go up the steps to the bastion on the right, including an unknown singer who sang his songs on the steps. On top of the bastion the sun peeked through the thick clouds in places. This hike had everything with it. Rain, sun, low clouds and closed hiking trails. It was nice anyway 👍🙂
