I hiked the Theodor-Fontane-Weg in the Spreewald. It started in the Waldschlösschenstraße (Burg-Kauper) following the signs past meadows in the direction of the Waldhotel Eiche. At the Waldhotel, I didn't follow the official signs, instead I relied on komoot. Continue over the wooden bridge towards Kanomühle. From here the path becomes narrow and leads right next to the river through the forest. Really only for hikers.

Our hiking tour in Saxon Switzerland took us from the Lichtenhain waterfall to Schmilka. Due to the announced heat wave, we shortened the 5th stage of the Malerweg and took advantage of the cool morning hours. It started at the Lichtenhain waterfall car park to the Kuhstall rock cave and then climbed the ladder to heaven. Continue on the tourist path in the direction of the small and large Winterberg over many many stairs. On the big winter mountain we treated ourselves to an ice cream and got over the mountain trail down to Schmilka. After a short stroll through Schmilka, we took the hiking bus to Bad Schandau and from there with the Kirnitzschtalbahn to the Lichtenhain waterfall car park.

The hike began in the cool evening hours and led us to the Schrammsteinen, a very rugged group of rocks in Saxon Switzerland. At that time there were hardly any hikers and we could enjoy the tranquility of the mountains.

Our hike takes us from the Schöna car park with a view of the Zirkelstein to Gohrisch.
It is the 6th stage from Malerweg. On this sunny day we hike through Schöna following the circular route to the panoramic view of the Wolfsberg. Continue to Reinhardsdorf with its baroque-style village church. An absolute highlight.
Through the village to the Krippenberg and Liethmühle. After a short time we are in front of the steps to the Pope Stone. Once at the top, down again and on the other side back up to the Gohrisch (a table mountain) with its incredibly beautiful view.
Back in the spa town of Gohrisch, we treated ourselves to a visit to the courtyard cafe with ice cream, cake and coffee.

I saw my hike today at Cori and hiked it in part until the thunderstorm announced with a dull rumble and violent wind.I never thought that we have such beautiful beech forests (Zerna circular hiking trail) on the Neisse. I have seen the fir trees (fairy tale forest hike) in Thuringia and suspected there too. You can easily put both hikes together.
The hiking trails lead partly up and down the paved bike path and partly through picturesque forests. I haven't met other hikers, only a few cyclists now and then.
I will certainly repeat this hike in the golden autumn. Thanks again to Cori for this suggestion.Jana🐾

My hike starts in Altendorf and leads me over the Dorfbachklamm into the Kirnitzschtal to the Ostrauer Mühle. Behind the campsite there, the path runs uphill (Mühlweg and Bauweg) on the Elbleitenweg into the Schrammsteine. The Schrammsteine are a very rugged group of rocks. Past the Schrammtor over the Jägersteig (by iron ladders), the Schrammsteingratweg leads to the Schrammstein view. From there by iron chains on the back trail over the upper Affenstein promenade and the wild hell in the Dietrichsgrund towards the Beuthenfall. Here it is only a few meters to the Lichtenhain waterfall with a restaurant. We continue uphill to the Felsentor Kuhstall and back down to the house path towards the Felsenmühle. Once there I walked back to the starting point in Altendorf on the Flößersteig (romantic always parallel to the Kirnitzsch river). A ride on the Kirnitzschtalbahn was also a must and was good for your feet.

My hike today starts in Rathewalde and first leads towards Hockstein to the Wolfsschlucht. In this it goes up and down stairs. Following the Malerweg we reach the Polenz valley and turn behind the Polenzschänke at the small bridge into the Schindergraben. Ideal for hikes on warm days. A little later we reach the Gautschgrotte, a high rock face that offers an impressive view. We continue towards the fire prospect of the "Balcony of Saxon Switzerland". A fantastic panoramic view 170 m above the Polenz Valley. Then it gets sporty: 900 steps down into the ground and 900 steps up on the other side. Meanwhile, the warm summer rain started and the air was muggy like in a terrarium. Following the hiking trail, we came from Waitzdorf over the Kohlichtgraben to the Kohlmühle in the Sebnitz valley to the stage destination Altendorf.

Today's hike takes me along the first two stages of the Malerweg. The "poet musician path" runs almost identically. It starts in Liebethaler Grund towards Daubemühle along the Wesernitz river past the Richard Wagner monument towards Lochmühle (only remnants available). Ideal for warm days. It's cool down here in Liebethaler Grund. On the old Lohmstrasse past forest and field you hike to the coordinate stone. The next stop is Uttewalder Grund with its famous rock gate. We continue to Stadt Wehlen with its pretty market square and delicious ice cream. Be sure to take a break🍧.Freshly strengthened, we climb the Schwarzberg up to the stone table towards Bastei with the wonderful view. We climb the steps down the Basteiweg into the Amselgrund past the Amselsee back up towards Rathewalde. Two bars await you here before you go home.We were hiking during the week and there weren't many people on the go. Time didn't matter. The path is full of "ahhs and ohhs". I particularly enjoyed the Liebethaler and Uttewalder Grund.
