As we were staying in Keswick we decided to get to the start of this hike by shuttle boat to Hawes End. However, you could drive to the car park just above Hawes End if you prefer. There's no refreshment opportunities during the hike but if you take a 20 minute detour at the end, the Swinside Inn is well worth a visit.
