A day in Linz. Wandered around, looked at some buildings, squares and alleys and took the beautifully restored Pöstlingbergbahn up to the Pöstlingberg and enjoyed the view of Linz. Linz makes a very lively impression, lots of young people, lots of old buildings and loooots of museums.

Recordings from concentration camp memorials always make me thoughtful & reflective!
The gruesome stories behind them only allow a limited glimpse into what these people had to experience & how many did not leave alive!!
In contrast, the city of Linz is full of life & hustle and bustle!
WOW What

First, a short tour through Grein im Mühlviertel.
We chose the southern bank of the Danube in the hope of less wind, a bit away from the river. That was a misjudgment. The wind is blowing fiercely and annoyingly into our faces again.
We cross a low-lying agricultural area where many farms were relocated

From Melk, we ride across the Melk and then across the Melk power station to the north side of the Danube.
It is very cool and a very strong headwind from the west blows into our faces. Riding on the Danube dyke feels just like riding on the Elbe dyke near Hamburg today.
First, it goes up and down a lot

A day's 'break' for visiting the Benedictine Abbey of Melk.
The Babenberg family had been granted the border march in the east of the empire by the Holy Roman Emperor to secure it against the uncertain east. Melk was one of the main castles of the Babenbergers.
As Vienna increasingly became the center

After a 2-year break, we are continuing with our long-term project, the Danube Cycle Path. Due to adverse circumstances, we are only setting off from Bratislava in the afternoon. Therefore, it's just a short tour. A large section on the Danube dike. Once again, a wonder when crossing the border from

Not cycling along the bank, but at least hiking along the top of the steep bank. Once you have climbed the steep ascent, you have a magnificent view of the Danube, its narrow and wide bays, and the steep rocks along the bank. The Iron Gate is not yet visible here, however.

We hike through a nature reserve along the Susara, partly almost in the Susara, because the rocks reach right down to the river. For a short stretch, you have to hang on to a rope. It goes through the forest to little wooden houses where Kneipp therapy was once practiced. The Susara forms many small

We hike in the Cheile Nerei National Park along the river Nera, which forms a spectacular approx. 30 km long karst gorge here. First, we cross the river via a somewhat adventurous suspension bridge, later on narrow paths and through several hand-hewn rock tunnels, the Tunelele Romane, which however probably

Accompanying the road, a green strip runs on both sides in front of the houses, which is also very common here. The houses are traditionally built of travertine stone from the region and stand close
