I didn't expect snow anymore. Around the mountain, some paths have a lot of scree and you should be sure-footed there. But there are also large and safe paths.

Odenwald 🌳 Trommturm – Höhenweg zur Tromm Runde von Wald-Michelbach
Eine berauschende 360°Aussicht bietet sich vom 34m hohen Trommturm. Keine Himmelsrichtung wird von Bäumen oder nahe liegenden, ähnlich hohen, Bergen verdeckt. An Tagen mit klarer Sicht soll die Sichtweite bis zu den Vogesen in 170km Entfernung reichen. Rhön, Vogelsberg sowie der Nördliche Schwarzwald sind ebenfalls in Sichtweite. So eine klare Sicht hatten wir heute, trotz Sonnenschein und frühlingshaften Temperaturen, leider nicht. Es gibt also einen guten Grund noch einmal wiederzukommen und den Turm erneut zu besteigen. Außer der überragenden Aussicht fällt der Turm auch durch seine ungewöhnliche Architektur auf, denn er ist schräg und erinnert aus der Entfernung betrachtet an den Turm einer Skischanze. 192 Stufen aus metallenen Gitterrosten führen hinauf zur Aussichtsplattform, die manchmal ein wenig im Wind schaukelt. Auf dem Höhenzug befinden sich auch viele Kunstwerke am Wegesrand. Die Exponate haben kein Thema, sind allerdings oft aus ungewöhnlichen Stoffen gefertigt. Von Alltags-Gebrauchsgegenständen bis zum typischen Gestein der Region reicht das Spektrum. Zum Abschluss gab es für uns 4 in einem Café in Wald-Michelbach noch eine gute Tasse Kaffee und leckeren Kuchen. Wir hatten einen wunderschönen Tag mit einem einzigartigen Wanderziel.

We had a lovely hike to the castle ruins. It's supposed to have many great viewpoints and a fantastic view from the castle down into the valley. Unfortunately, we couldn't see anything at all because of the fog. The hike was still enjoyable, though. The signs with the sayings made the path very interesting.
