Sunday. Sun. Middle Rhine.
A great combination for a successful hike. The numerous, beautiful and well-preserved or restored castles lining the path along the Rhine Valley should be well known. On this tour there were also some on both sides of the Rhine -Rheinfels, Katz and Maus, Schönburg, ... to name just a few. But also the view of the Loreley and the concert grandstand on the opposite side of the Rhine is wonderful. Many people know this area more from going to concerts - to be able to enjoy the area on this hike from a different perspective was a new and very nice impression for me.
There are numerous places to sit and rest along the entire route, some of which are covered. In particular, the route along the Rhine is peppered with a large number of viewpoints. Of course there are also numerous restaurants, which we were unfortunately unable to visit due to the current Corona restrictions - a well-stocked backpack helps at least a little to compensate for this :-).
In the last third of the tour we went along numerous funny steel sculptures and a very nice Kneipp facility (unfortunately also closed at the moment).
At the end of the tour there was a special highlight (supported by the EU, among others): Climbing the "Spitzer Stein" observation tower. A steel / stair tower with a platform above the treetops. A wonderful all-round view in bright weather from there ended this wonderful and absolutely recommendable hike.

Another Sunday hike through the beautiful Nahe valley. This time near Kirn. A visit to Dhaun Castle and above all walking through the underground castle corridors (free of charge) is definitely worth it. There are numerous opportunities to rest and relax on the route. The Skywalk itself, with a view of Kirn and its quarry, is a matter of taste. From my point of view, structurally well executed, but otherwise unfortunately not really spectacular. But everyone should and is allowed to form their own opinion.
