Dont follow our route for the bay, just go RIGHT on path after crossing bridge from Parkmill. We went a long way to cross golf course to castle but didnt then go down to beach level.

Section of route after Ashover NOT recommended for a fat old lad on a road bike; might enjoy it if you're fit enough for a long tough gravel climb (but still includes an unpleasant short kicker for 100 yards or so up Slack Hill on the main road, navigation error!)

Don't follow first section up to Hardings Down, had to turn back as stile inaccessible, path overgrown with bracken and had to lift dog over several difficilt stiles before that.
