I did this 2-day hike on the Sauerland Rennweg
The path is mostly well marked with the X26 symbol.
The start was at the Wewelsburg near Paderborn.
The destination on day 1 was the Kallenhardt campsite near Rüthen. I spent the night there in a barrel.

The start was the Kallenhardt campsite
From there we went to Warstein.
From Warstein you then walk a good 20 km over the beautiful ridges of the Arnsberg Forest to the Möhnesee.
As you won't pass through any towns on the 20 km, make sure you pack enough food.
