David B. Davis

I used to ride in Oklahoma. I used to ride in Texas. I used to ride in New Jersey and nearly bought the farm. Now I ride (and hike) with a titanium spine in Northern California. I'm very happy to be here, or anywhere, really.
The web site link is to my playlist of chill tunes. Just another passion.

Back in the loop

Getting in the swing of things after a brief vacation. My hip, my metal hip, is very angry with me; and I think it's from climbing the Great Wall.

Suzhou Creek, Shanghai

I rode until the cops said no. Forgot to start recording and missed about the first 5 miles. Today's Blue Bike was in better shape and had a phone holder for nav. But, damn. they're tiny.

Half Walk, Half Ride - Shanghai

I needed to get a feel for things before jumping on a bike, so I walked for a long while first. Predictably chaotic traffic on a bike, but not overly agressive, and surprisingly quiet with all the electric cars and scooters. I have heard the future, and it's merciful on…

Barely Roubaix with the Gravel Packers

Okay, so I made up the gravel packer part. But we were a good group. Big fun meandering the levees in the South Bay, discovering hidden gems of overgrown trails and pump tracks.

A Brief Respite from Sugar Ant Battles

The gray skies were completely welcome. Halfway through the loop, the wind quickly kicked in, from calm to gusty. A front cometh.

Cañada Rotisserie

87⁰F in the middle of Cañada in MARCH. I could feel my body pucker as the dry air sucked out all my water. Maybe that's why I have a smile.

Nineteen Gnat Grenades

The marshes are offering up those invisible gnat swarms on the trail. I had on a greasy sunblock and my body acted like flypaper, catching dozens on my arms and face each time I passed through one. Joy joy.
