This is a great route with good tarmac and low traffic - many quite lanes. Nice day and nice coffee

Nice road loop and generally good tarmac bar odd section. Easy free parking in Usk and plenty of places to fuel up in Monmouth.

Last day of our tour started with an immediate climb up some major ascents. I'm 'intermediate' and found this a tough hill climb. Saving grace was that it was front loaded, so after a couple of hours upward slog, the back end from Rhayader was a tonic with fast rolling lanes down to the end goal. Again

Day 2 of our short tour. This was a shorter day to get a bit of recovery time before the hills on day 3. Strong wind against us in the morning, good tarmac & plenty of stops to take in the beauty and a few pics. Touring with panniers is new to me and while it slows you a little, I generally forgot they were there.

Decided it was time we rode from Anglesey to home (South Wales) over 3 days staying in bike friendly hotels over night. Most of the route followed NC 8 and the quality of tarmac was very good; better than tarmac back home and better than we had expected looking at youtube videos.

Great route, easy parking quiet country lanes and cycleways. We'll worth the ride. Photo shows a nice place to stop after the hill climb.
