Aber keine Sorge, denn jeder Reisebegleiter dort mahnt: "Don't forget, the bus leaves in 30 minutes". (s. letzten beiden Fotos vom Vorabend)

There are a few parking spaces along the TF-21 for this magnificent tour. The namesake El Sombrero peak takes a backseat on this hike, as the view into the Teide Valley caldera is so breathtaking, it's hard to beat (for me, even more impressive than the view from Mount Teide itself). But take a look

Best caldera loop: Instead of fighting for parking at Roque de la Muchachos, park your car on the LP-4 below Pico de la Cruz. This saves you time, fuel, and stress, and you'll usually have the magnificent scenery all to yourself. ‼️ Parking spaces along the roadside are limited: The early bird catches

The last leg of my round trip began with a fantastic breakfast at my friend Stephan's. Then I headed toward the Rhine on the old "Balkantrasse" railway line. I had all the elevation gain from yesterday on my side today. A lunch break at a typical Cologne drinking hall, a Siegfähre for the "romantic part

As soon as I left the noise of the A2 behind me, I immersed myself in the absolute silence of the railway cycle path of the former Westphalian Railway – 25km of the best stretch, birdsong – a blessing😇.
After that, unfortunately, I continued on busy federal highways with barely visible bike markings

Waking up to morning sun - what a joy🌞. After the first climb, I encountered the obligatory flat tire, which is perfectly acceptable after almost 700km. The hole was quickly patched in the scenic surroundings, and next to the Holte moated castle, there was a 1,000-year-old oak tree with a green canopy

The mystical morning mist over the Weser Valley stood no chance against the brilliant sunshine, which accompanied me throughout the day (pictures 1 and 2 are only 50 minutes apart).
A short circular tour through Höxter, then it was up into the Teutoburg Forest. The bike paths here are really good and

Until this evening, I wasn't sure if the sun was still below us, because once again a thick band of clouds accompanied me...but then, Höxter 17°°: 🌞😎😇.
And speaking of the weather: heavy thunderstorms are forecast for the east next week. ⛈️&🏕️?? Not in the mood for that😜.
So I skipped the east route

The hike to the "black caves" is like a trip to Mars. At 2,100 meters altitude, with a biting, cold wind, there's no romance, but breathtaking panoramic views towards Teide (always on the left in the photos) and Pico Viejo. The paths to both peaks were closed due to snow, although the Spanish risk analysts
