I was quiet all morning so as not to wake Petra, just to avoid waking her, because I'm afraid she might want to come along.



I even briefly considered taking the nuts out of the muesli; they just make unnecessary noise when we eat.



On the other hand, it would have been too foggy for her outside today anyway

"Soon" and "soon" are great words,

because they are so beautifully vague and only vaguely point to the future.



And the future is good, as long as it's not right now.



But any "soon," no matter how dreaded it may be, inevitably becomes a "now" on its way to "then," in between...

This is definitely the last attempt to see if we still have a future together or if we'll go our separate ways in this relationship.



So instead of just selfishly celebrating my "future prediction" (again), I opted for the company bike this time.

Not too cold.

Not too windy.

Somewhat dry paths in places.

It's been a while since all of that was true at the same time.



A reasonably good chance of slowly getting my fitness level back up.



The forecast was fairly accurate up to Worms,



where all the raindrops gathered that yesterday's weather report laconically

It was just too chilly for me 🥶, so I went out and right back in.



Well, almost.



My fingers were so cold I could barely turn the key in the lock.



Time for a coffee... 😊

The lab is bright, dry, and warm,



outside it's currently overcast, damp, and cold.



So the decision was easy:



The company can wait another day.



No one expects me on Wednesdays anyway...



Without the frozen paths, it would have been a nasty mud bath, but you can always get lucky.
