Martha and I, along with our two daughters, recently took a family history trip to explore my mother's roots in Missouri. My mother's great-grandfather arrived in Missouri from England in 1830. He traveled by boat up the Missouri River and founded the town of Dalton, Missouri. My mother's great-grandmother's family originally came to America in 1690, but did not arrive in Missouri until ten years after the Dalton family. They were initially heading for California in a covered wagon, but changed their plans when their horse was injured in the mud near Dalton. During our trip, we found the graves of both great-grandparents.
