Cycled up steep hill to Daorsan, an ancient Illyrian hilltop settlement near Stolac, dating back to around the 4th century BC.
Its most impressive feature is the massive stone wall, built from enormous limestone blocks without modern machinery.
It was an important centre of the Daorsi tribe, who traded with the Greeks before the Romans conquered the area in the 1st century BC. Carried on to Stolac old fort, again amazing views. Old town has impressive stone buildings with massive stone tiles on roofs. Beautiful clear river. Bullet holes on many older buildings. Had lunch in old town.
