Originally the plan was to start this walk at Ebley where the last section ended, but the traffic into Stroud is so heavy I gave that a miss and went to Coaley Peak instead. From here the Cotswold Way passes the Nympsfield Lone Barrow and then heads into the very fine Stanley Wood, which is another of those excellent Beech Woods that can be found all along the Cotswold escarpment. Above Kings Stanley the Cotswold way splits with a direct route down to the canal at Ryeford or a longer route that goes up and over Selsey Common before descending through Stanley Park and then following the canal to meet up again at Ryeford Bridge. As this was in part a circular route I took in both arms of the Cotswold Way and I have to say the longer route is definitely better.
