Die Burgruine Are thront rund 240 Meter über dem Ort Altenahr und ist vom Ortskern zu Fuß in ca. 20 Minuten zu erreichen. Das Gelände kann ganz einfach auf eigene Faust erkundet werden und kostet keinen Eintritt. Die Aussicht von hier oben auf das Ahrtal und die umliegenden Weinberge ist wunderschön.
