The Kaiparoro Track in Tararua Forest Park climbs to the summit of Mt Kaiparoro (808 m) and the nearby site of a 1952 plane crash. It's a demanding walk. The lower section follows an old, steep bulldozed track with washouts and loose rock. Higher up, the route passes through dense native bush where the track is hard to see and the roots make for uneven footing. The effort is rewarded with views over the Tararua tops from the summit. Access is from the end of Kaiparoro Road, off SH2 just north of Pukaha Mount Bruce.
