🇨🇿(🇬🇧👇) 🇯🇵🛴 Den 52: Tři vesnice UNESCO, nečekaná změna trasy a noc uprostřed lesa 🛖🌲🔥
Čekala mě cesta plná tunelů a další velké stoupání někam k 1 000 m n. m. Jenže…
🚧 Moje silnice byla zavřená. Zase. 😂 Tentokrát to naštěstí bylo označené už dole, takže jsem si mohla sednout nad mapu a vymyslet plán B.
A ten nakonec vůbec nebyl špatný.

🇬🇧🇯🇵🛴 Day 52: Three UNESCO Villages, an Unexpected Change of Route, and a Night in the Middle of the Forest 🛖🌲🔥
🛖 Today wasn’t so much about riding as it was about visiting beautiful historic villages. In the morning, I headed to Shirakawa-gō, which, together with the villages of Suganuma and Ainokura, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site thanks to its traditional gasshō-zukuri houses, with their distinctive steep thatched roofs.
🏘️ I ended up spending almost three hours in the main village of Ogimachi – wandering through the village, visiting a temple, going inside one of the traditional houses, and stopping for lunch.
🛴 In the afternoon, I finally got back on the road. I had a route full of tunnels ahead of me, followed by another big climb to somewhere around 1,000 metres above sea level. Except…
🚧 My road was closed. Again. 😂 Luckily, this time it was signposted at the bottom, so I could sit down with the map and come up with Plan B.
And Plan B actually turned out to be pretty good. I avoided the big climb, which would have been quite a challenge after yesterday, and more importantly, the new route also took me to the other two villages that are part of the same UNESCO World Heritage Site. The only downside is that it’s going to add quite a few extra kilometres to my journey.
🏡 Suganuma was much smaller than Shirakawa-gō, but there were also hardly any people there. No crowds, no Disneyland – just a tiny historic village surrounded by mountains. And because of that, I think I might have liked it even more.
⛺ Then I continued towards Ainokura, where I found a free campsite in the middle of the forest. It’s just me and one other tent here, and in the evening, I made another fire. A beautiful end to the day. ☺️
