Cold very dark moonless start at 03.30. Joy of empty roads and uninterrupted pace through the towns, traffic lights and railway crossings.
Dark night, dark clothes. Dark dog. Just caught sight of a near miss as the canine and owner were briefly illuminated in my lights as I passed. Brighton nightclubs spilling out noisily and unsteadily onto the cycle path with the music booming its beats to the rhythm of my pedals. Ferry terminal lacking in, well, everything, but good on-board breakfast and mill pond crossing. Next stop, 🇫🇷 France.
